I’m Rose,
a DMV artist who create safe
spaces for myself and others to explore
the parts of themselves that they
wouldn’t normally give attention to.
For as long as I can remember I’ve
always been a creative person. But if
if I had to pinpoint the catalyst to my journey, I’d start
with the 2nd grade. This was my first ever
hated the whole thing. After that moment
I started working on my craft more.
I joined the choir and kept singing and
got better. Eventually during my 8th grade year I
decided to give performing solo another try
when I sung a jazzy version of
“Everything Stays” from Adventure Time
at the school talent show. I didn’t think much
of it until after the performance, when a few of
the parents who saw it started asking about
me and the song that I chose to sing.

in front of the class, froze and just sat down
and balled up. In the end I did the poem but I
I’ve always been into writing,
creating places that I can
escape to when my mind got
too messy or chaotic. My mind hasn’t always
been the nicest place to be
in and at some point I decided that I
would make it mine or it would kill me.
In high school I had to face some of my
hardest battles with my mental health
and I found comfort in the movie Sweeney Todd.
It inspired me to keep going through my
struggles and be my whole self instead
of continuing to force myself into
different boxes. Plus being the
baby goth that I was, I found a lot of
thematic and stylistic inspiration that I
would later adopt into my work.
As an artist who’s going through an extended
journey with her mental health and
made it to the “other side” I’m motivated
to help others going through the same
thing. Through my art I want them to see that
if you confront your darkness,
it can get better.
Currently I’m working on
an RPG video game that ties into
“The Red Sky Project” and
crafting my next EP. And as a person
who considers themselves to be open
to criticism, I invite you to come and
explore my world and tell me
what you think.
